Boruto the Movie and Extra: Boruto's Fight to Save Naruto's Life

You're the son of the seventh Hokage but you don't dream of becoming another Hokage, how do you prove yourself?
I watched Boruto: Naruto the Movie and its Extra but I don't exactly remember when. It was not too long ago.
What I can say about this last Naruto movie is Naruto has come a long way. He's no more the precarious teenager he once was but a leader and a father who is very busy in his adult life. And the movie's not exactly focus on him but his son, Boruto.

Still, I must say Naruto sure has grown up a lot and changed. It made me want to scratch my head because I got so used to the free-spirited teenage ninja who loved to rumble how he's gonna be the next Hokage of Konoha. Seeing him all-grown up in this movie showed how long the series has lived all this time. He's haggard looking and too adult, gone is the boyish charm.
In the Extra episode, he was to be inducted as the seventh ninja state head. What an intro that was though. Hilarious. The seventh hokage wasn't exactly the real Naruto that waved on top of the village's platform headquarters. Konohamaru has to stepped in for him. It will be explained in a bit.

Hinata went to the shop where the Hokage suit called the haori was made checking carefully that Naruto's haori's number seven is properly stitched at the back. Meanwhile, in the Uzumaki residence, as Naruto and his two kids were preparing to leave, something inevitable happened. Boruto was so against Himawari bringing the pink toy bear and had a tug of war with her tearing up the toy's head in the process. Sorry about the destruction, Boruto got so scared when he saw how Himawari's eyes changed to one like Hinata's Byakugan. Naruto was just in time to step in between the two kids when he was hit by Himawari's furious jutsu immobilizing his entire body causing him to miss the inauaguration as Hokage.
Moving on to the main movie Boruto, a brief intro showed Sasuke fighting and using his Rinnegan against an enemy. Boruto narrated about Naruto being the seventh Hokage. Naruto was shown replicated into thousand clones jutsu as he accomplished so many tasks while losing time for his kids. Boruto who was clearly unimpressed by Naruto's Hokage duties always hang around with his two friends, Sarada and Mitsuki. That day they finished their mission of capturing a stray panda.
Unlike Naruto who was a dopehead in his school days, Boruto is the exact opposite of him who leans more on the genius side but is oblivious to it sharing parallel intellectual ability with both Sarada and Mitsuki. The trio are the top team in the recent ninja children generation.

Boruto Uzumaki, the main character in this movie doesn't care much about becoming a great ninja someday or gaining anything to be in the future. He knew that both his dad and grandfather became head of their village but it was not his dream. On this note, he even discarded the invitation for the Chunin exam. He had no interest of advancing to the next ninja leveand and was quite contented on using a hi-tech gadget (a storing and releasing jutsu device) that makes his ninja life easier and pretty much convenient.
The technological side of Konoha has evolved after many years. It was more impressive compared to the early days of the village that focused on basic physical training for ninjas wanting to be ultimate fighter-protector of their country. Technology in the days of Naruto wasn't so advanced yet.
Boruto's interest on taking the Chunin exam only got perked up after seeing Sasuke return. He was in awe with Sasuke knowing that Sasuke was a better ninja than Naruto during their younger days. Boruto went to Sasuke to be trained and was agreed a disciple if he learns Rasengan. Boruto learnt Rasengan from his teacher Konohamaru. Once mastering the jutsu, Boruto returned to Sasuke. Much to his disappointment though, Boruto didn't made the sterling shot he was supposed to impress Sasuke and left him. Sarada appeared before her father and confirmed that Boruto will be trained by Sasuke.
Along with Mitsuki, Sarada, who was hell bent on becoming a future Hokage finally got Boruto to join them in the Chunin exam. The team entered the competition and got their levels tested.
Everything went well for Boruto. He didn't even have to sweat in the exam using the jutsu gadget to assist him in the fight. He was out to impress his old man (whom he respect but begrudged for missing Himawari's birthday.)

As Boruto faced Shikadai, Shikamaru's son, and defeated him using the device, Naruto jumped off from the spectacle room and announced his son disqualified for using a gadget violating basic tournament guidelines. An argument was about to ensue between them when they were distracted with the arrival of the villains, Kinshiki and Momoshiki Ōtsutsuki.
Chaos started. The dome was destroyed from the atomic attack of Momoshiki. Naruto and Sasuke joined forces to defeat the duo. Naruto transformed to his sage form, a complete surprise for Boruto who has never seen his father in sage form. Naruto fought Kinshiki and the two got engulfed in a giant flame that swallowed them and disappeared.
Boruto woke up in the hospital and ran back to the stadium only to find a tattered piece of Naruto's Hokage suit.

I felt sad during this scene, I really thought that Naruto was gone. It would have been a tragic ending. The movie portrayed how Boruto's life differs from Naruto who grew up orphaned. I thought Boruto will get to experience a fatherless youth, but Kishimoto-sama wasn't going to let death happen to Naruto.
So, I got relieved upon knowing that Sasuke sensed Naruto is still alive in the other dimension. Boruto who was deeply grieved over the supposed loss of Naruto, donned Naruto's very worn-out orange jacket as he, Sasuke and a group of rescuers prepared to go to the other dimension. They entered the domain and found Naruto tied on a giant rock. The group freed him and the fight ensued. Momoshiki ate Kinshiki in the chakra fruit form as his final means of strength making it difficult for the sages to defeat.
Naruto and Sasuke combined their powers and helped Boruto with his Rasengan to be the final shot to defeat Momoshiki. Sasuke distracted Momoshiki so Boruto can find the perfect timing to hit Momoshiki with his giant Rasengan. A big dome of white light followed and Momoshiki vanished. Boruto was reconciled with Naruto and was greatly delighted to be with his dad.
This reconciliation scene of Naruto and Boruto was a great one. It emphasized how Boruto felt relieved and happy to have his father back.
In the course of defeating Momoshiki, he also showed potential of becoming the next Sasuke, a protector of Konoha from behind the scene. On the last scene, Boruto mentioned of becoming the village protector when Sarada started on her babble on I'm-going-to-be-the-next-Hokage.

Though the movie's central focus is on Boruto, this movie also showed Naruto as leader and father. Naruto works hard as Hokage but he neglects time as father. Teenager Boruto was the exact opposite of teenage Naruto. He was more like Sasuke minus Sasuke's darker side.
The love story in the movie is not focused although it was implied between Sarada and Boruto. Sarada is more like the daughter of Naruto who's also more decided on becoming Hokage. The washout forgotten love story of Naruto and Sakura is definitely gonna happen between Boruto and Sarada--the Shadow Protector and Hokage of Konoha.
The music and sounds in Naruto is as always splendid to listen to and enjoy. The beat of the drums and the village flute sound always distinguish Naruto's village. Plus, the classical village vibe mixed with modern pop rock blending modern with old. It kicks to the unnaturalness of the ninja village.
Family photos of each ninja family at the end credit were a surprise treat. The beautifully done illustrations showed the genealogy up to the recent generation. Little Naruto with Yupina and Minato sure has grown up with his own family to boot in his photo with Hinata and the new Uzumakis: Boruto and Himawari.
The movie wrapped up the long saga of Naruto's adventure and introduced the emergance of Boruto and his generation. It took long years before this long anime was over, now Naruto has Boruto, but I won't deny that I still miss most the young Naruto energetically shouting about becoming the Hokage. Time has passed fast.
