Fly on the Sky with 'Kiki's Service Delivery'

Image
It's really refreshing to watch a kind of movie that was made before one's own time or just when one was born. Exactly how I felt when I watched Kiki's Service Delivery  from Studio Ghibli in the year of the wooden snake —1989.  I'm simply amazed because it was created when I was just an infant inside a cradle when this movie was made and produced.  This  one's a total classic. Kiki was a 13-year-old teenage girl who left home by flying off to another city to train herself as a witch. She has a black talking pet cat called Jiji. As she stopped in the city of Kikori, Kiki helped a bakery owner named Osono by returning a pacifier left by one customer. In return, Osono offered her a place to stay where Kiki lived and started her witchly service. With help from Osono, she received customers via phone calls and on her broomstick with Jiji, Kiki flew her delivery to customers' doorsteps.  On her first delivery, while flying past a forest, Kiki lost a bla...

'Mahoutsukai no Yome' and the Head Boggling Magus

Image
Will you seriously fall for a skull-faced creature who helped you out of a sticky situation? Just what the head is going on in this anime?! I'm seriously thinking of a prettier intro to write on my blog for this new anime that I've watched but my eyes got glued, stuck and couldn't move on fast because of the un-likely-hood and bizaareness of one new character. I'm all outrage right now and badly need to release this or I'll blow up really really bad because despite the splendedid-ness and beauty of the anime; setting aside the perfectly and intricately illustrated library in the forest--my head is mind stuck and still strongly lingering on the most devious and obviously curious extremely-over-the-top guy, the hero of this new anime entitled  Mahoutsukai no Yome! He has an alligator-shaped head or should I call it with something else? It's definitely an alligator, with its narrow head and protruded nose and mouth, unless this is a fossil skull of ...

Disappear by Touch 'Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light'

Image
How long will you keep a love that you won't be able to touch but look forward to each summer only to disappear at one unforgettable summer night after touching a human? I pondered on this question as I watched the movie,  Hotarubi no Mori e (known as "Into the Forest of Fireflies' Light" ). It was a poignant yet tragic tale of supernatural love between a human girl and a human-like  being that ended up in an expected but still sad ending. I wish the story was made with a different ending but it won't be this heartcrunching and loving, if not for the imaginative and unique storytelling of the Japanese mangaka Yuki Midorikawa.  Before I start at the story of the movie, let me just share some tidbits how I got this along. I was watching videos in Youtube when I came upon this curious movie that I thought was made by Ghibli. Ghibli studios have a way of capturing an audience because of their gently beautiful but simple art style. The colors of the anime i...

Boruto the Movie and Extra: Boruto's Fight to Save Naruto's Life

Image
You're the son of the seventh Hokage but you don't dream of becoming another Hokage, how do you prove yourself? I watched Boruto: Naruto the Movie and its Extra but I don't exactly remember when. It was not too long ago.  What I can say about this last Naruto movie is Naruto has come a long way. He's no more the precarious teenager he once was but a leader and a father who is very busy in his adult life. And the movie's not exactly focus on him but his son, Boruto . Still, I must say Naruto sure has grown up a lot and changed. It made me want to scratch my head because I got so used to the free-spirited teenage ninja who loved to rumble how he's gonna be the next Hokage of Konoha. Seeing him all-grown up in this movie showed how long the series has lived all this time. He's haggard looking and too adult, gone is the boyish charm. In the  Extra episode, he was to be inducted as the seventh ninja state head. What an intro that was though. Hilario...

Akagami no Shirayukihime OVA 1: Date in Clarines City

Image
I watched the OVA of Akagami no Shirayukihime. It's a worthwhile episode. Now in their romantic relationship, Shirayuki and Zen went on a date this time. It seemed that it’s their first date out of the castle together. They have been on many dates inside the palace. This time, in a more or less, the first ever official date of the pair outside the palace ground, which was in Clarines City, Shirayuki wore a tangerine dress with a hat that honestly looked ridiculous to me. She looked like an old woman wearing the old fashioned dress. On the other side, Zen wore a more peasantly looking garb, discarding his distinctive princely suit. He looked a bit like Obi minus the ragged look, of course . He's like a very ordinary guy with the get-up somewhat resemblant of Robin Hood get-up. I seriously think if Zen isn't a prince in the story, he will be a lot more of bishounen rebel like Obi. A dashing rebel with the white blond hair. Shirayuki was accompanied by Obi and R...

My First Blog on All Things Anime

Image
Wow, I'm  finally starting my very own anime blog. This feels great. I can write my thoughts out about the animes I just simply love to watch. That's cool and amazing. Should have done it a long time but then, it doesn't matter. I can do it now. That's what matters. I wasn't so sure about blogging on anime before because I always only watched the series and just thoroughly enjoyed them, sitting in front of the TV watching the DVDs straight on, like a typical couch potato. Hahaha. But that's what's great about watching anime. Watch them straight out without breaks. So I don't lag behind the next episode. I get a bit riled when I see the ending but I love listening to the final songs though. J-pop music is so good to the ears. Jumpy, catchy, and sometimes melancholic. I really love listening to the anime music-it's my best music therapy. These anime deserve so much credit especially to the people who made them. They are uber-amazing people, after...
