Kohana Aigasaki |
Kohana Aigasaki is one of them. She can see the sparkles. What color, what pattern, what form.
Kohana is an ikebana artist who wishes to follow the path of her mother, renowned Ikebana artist, Sakura Aigasaki. She first saw sparkles from watching her own mom doing flower arrangements.

Sakura Aigasaki in Hoshimori Executive Student Council |
Kohana transferred to Hoshinomori to pursue that dream. In this new school, she saw more varied forms of sparkles from student artists emitting their own light of art--music from a viola releases golden strands, glass shards appears out of canvas, pointy sparkles from paper, angel wings from a dancer.
She walked around the new school and saw all those different lights and sparkles. Then, a singing voice resonated from the forest...ruby rose diamonds poured from the sky covering the ground. It was a man's voice, singing.
But she doesn't know what her own sparkles look like. She gave a bunch of flowers to the unknown singing guy to thank him for encouraging her. Golden light burst out from the bunch of flowers, tiny pink petals shoot forth. Kohana released her very first sparkles.
The next day, Kohana was introduced to class. The male singer was one of her classmates, Ichioji Teika called the "King". Knowing her last name was Aigasaki, Ichioji declared them enemies. Later, she learnt that their families have a long standing rivalry since the olden days.
Still school must continue.
She was assigned to be representative of their class, along with Ichioji and Sumomiya Aoi. Joining executive student council, Kohana and Ichioji must attend meetings but they are the only ones present. They have to plan for the Summer Festival. But the rest of the council members aren't around.
Will everyone ever show up in the council room? Can Kohana make them appear so the council can go ahead plan and execute for the Summer Festival?
The school selects a Prince and a Princess to walk up the Elite Staircase. Kohana's mom was the princess during her highschool. Will Kohana also become the princess in her highschool, becoming more like her mom?
Magic Kyun Renaissance is a manga created by Hajime Yatate and drawn by Junta Mio. It was adapted into an anime in 2016 and was directed by Mitsue Yamazaki and produced by mixed franchises--Sunrise, Pony Canyon and Broccoli. An otome game was also made under Playstation Vita.
Magic Kyun Renaissance is a good watch as it portrays how talented people pursue their talent while overcoming their own struggles in their art and in their life. The plot is pretty simple. It is particularly written to deliver among female highschoolers who will, no doubt, pretty much fall for each member of the council. The anime provides six different personalities of male artists growing with their art.
The songs are very nice and easy to listen to. The opening theme "Magic-kyun! No. 1" gives off the idol fancy lyric sung in a light carefree melody while the ending song, "Please kiss my heart" is a softer and slower song filled with hopeful inspiration reminiscent of a K-drama in a lovey dovey mode. They're quite gentle to the ears. Listening to them makes me feel like I'm surrounded in thousand white feathers falling from the sky. These songs were sung by ArtiStars.
Watch Magic Kyun Renaissance and join Kohana and her new friends as she encourages and convinces each of one of them be part of the council while helping them out to emit their own Light of Arte to convince and ensue each one in their chosen field of art. **Sparkle**.
